Health Professions and Nursing Scholarships

The Lutheran Foundation supports Lutheran and community organizations to advance Gospel sharing and promote mental wellness that silences the stigma of mental illness.

We recognize that our region needs highly trained, compassionate healthcare professionals. The Lutheran Foundation has 19 restricted scholarship funds that we can invest in individuals pursuing a degree in nursing or other healthcare professions. 


In order to be eligible for a health professions or nursing scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a high school senior, a current college student, a second career/older student, or planning to attend college in the upcoming school year.
  • Be pursuing a career in nursing or other healthcare-related field.
  • Reside in one of the following Indiana counties: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, or Whitley
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
  • Attend one of these eligible colleges or universities:

        Huntington University, Huntington

        Indiana Tech, Fort Wayne

        Indiana University, Fort Wayne*

        Indiana University School of Medicine, Fort Wayne*

        Indiana Wesleyan University, Fort Wayne*

        Ivy Tech Community College, Fort Wayne

        Manchester University, Fort Wayne

        Manchester University, North Manchester

        Purdue University, Fort Wayne*

        Trine University, Angola

        Trine University, Fort Wayne

        University of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne

        *Fort Wayne locations only; other campus locations not eligible

You do not need to be Lutheran to apply for this scholarship!

How to Apply

To apply for a scholarship, follow the instructions below.

  1. Complete Scholarship Application
  2. Application including additional required documentation must be submitted by the deadline.
  3. Applications are reviewed and scholarships are awarded by the Board of Directors.

Application Deadline - February 1 (noon)
Decision Date - April 30

If the grant deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, it is extended to the next business day at noon.
Notification of the scholarship decision will be emailed by the 10th of the following month.
