Community Grants

Community organizations in northeast Indiana may apply for a Community Grant exemplifying Christ’s love through whole-person health supporting wellness in body, mind, and spirit.

Grant Guidelines

  • An organization must be located in our 10-county service area in northeast Indiana (Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley counties).
  • Fiscal agent requests are not eligible for funding.
  • An application cannot include funding at 100% of the total cost.
  • An application cannot include funding for more than one project.
  • Grant funding cannot be used for the following:
    • To fund any medical procedures which are destructive of life or programs which encourage them.
    • To fund projects that have been completed.
    • To fund or cover debt.
    • To fund any expenses related to fundraising events.
    • To fund any promotional items.
    • To fund any pass-through items.
    • To fund a fund.
    • To fund an individual.

The Lutheran Foundation Board of Directors may from time to time expand upon their understanding and interpretation of these guidelines.

Funding Policies

  • Only one application can be submitted per fiscal year.
  • A grant application must be a minimum of $5,000.
  • An application for funding cannot exceed 20% of the total cost.
  • Organizations must have a current 501(c)(3) status. Fiscal agent requests are not eligible for funding.
  • Organizations headquartered outside the 10-county service area are eligible to apply for program support only if there is an established local office.
  • An application for capital funding will not be considered.
  • The funding request must align with one of the current focus areas.

Focus Areas

  • Advocate for whole-person health through elevating community awareness and understanding that mental, behavioral, and chronic physical health conditions are common, can be debilitating, and are responsive to treatment.
  • Promote early screening, diagnosis, and treatment to improve and integrate physical, mental, and behavioral health.
  • Provide access for uninsured or underinsured individuals for physical, mental, and behavioral health.
  • Invest in programs that help vulnerable individuals by strengthening resiliency, developing coping skills, and increasing self-worth.

Grant Deadlines and Timeline

If the grant deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, it is extended to the next business day at noon.

Application

An application will not be considered if:

  • Received after the grant deadline.
  • Any information is incomplete.
  • Does not include the required templates and attachments.
  • The organization has any overdue grant reports/follow ups.
