Faithful Foundations - September 2025

“Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance.” – Proverbs 1:5 (ESV)

The unofficial start of fall has arrived now that we have observed Labor Day. By this time, most everyone who attends school is now in class – preschoolers are usually the last to begin. With the start of school, many of the educational programs of the parish also get underway.

Studies have shown that an educated society tends to be a healthier society. The same is true for parish life – an educated congregation tends to be a more spiritually vibrant and healthy congregation. That is precisely why The Lutheran Foundation invests so heavily in our Lutheran schools and congregations.  We believe that learning is not just preparation for life, it is part of a life well lived in Christ.

As we begin this new school year, let us recommit ourselves to growing in both knowledge and faith, supporting our students, teachers, pastors, and parish leaders in their important work.

Please join me in prayer as we begin a new academic year –

Dear Heavenly Father, as Your Son Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man, we pray that You would bless all who return to school and church education programs this fall. Grant to students eagerness to learn, to teachers wisdom and patience, and to parents and congregational members strength and joy in their support.  May all learning lead us closer to You, the source of all truth. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

In the Name of Him who is The Church’s One Foundation,

Pastor Steve Ahlersmeyer
