Partnering with our 94 member congregations continues to be a priority for The Lutheran Foundation. We encourage each congregation to act as ambassadors of Christ’s love by reaching out to meet the needs of their church and community. We invest in congregations through grants that equip and strengthen their missions, membership, and leadership.
The Rev. Jeff Pulse, the vacancy pastor at Shepherd of the City Lutheran Church in downtown Fort Wayne, never imagined himself in a position like that growing up. “I’m a farm boy from Iowa,” he says. “Never thought this was anything I’d be interested in, but there’s something about it that’s kind of grabbed hold of me.”
Pulse and his congregation are reaching out to their inner-city neighborhood through The Shepherd’s Hand, a community center focused on bringing people together and addressing the issue of poverty and related problems it brings. “It’s not about money,” Pulse says. “It’s a mindset.”See More
